Leather Textures

Here are some leather textures for you. I took photos of 9 leather samples and each file is 6x6 inches @300ppi. CU OK on these. I have not made them tileable. I hope you can find a use for them.

Don't Miss Out

Isabella has a really beautiful kit available for free "Hey Mr Groundhog". Gentle colours and interesting elements make it very user friendly kit. The link is at Lotsofprettythings and is part of a "Stuff to Scrap" Blog Train- starting today.

Buttons for you

I have scanned some buttons for the course I'm doing. They are mostly from my button box with buttons from about 1920s onwards, one was made digitally.

Isle of Wight

We have just returned from a short break on the Isle of Wight. There was still a bit of snow around, but we visited Osborne House (home of Queen Victoria) and Carisbrooke Castle where donkeys demonstrate the treadmill which provided water for the castle.

Rolled Background Preview

Instructions for “Rolled Paper Preview”, using PSP.
I was asked yesterday about how backgrounds can be presented with a "rolled" look.
Hoefully, you can follow this in other programs. This is how I do it:

Open a new file at your usual page size e.g.12x12” @300ppi.

Fill with a black to transparent gradient (with the black running vertically)
With your pick tool, drag the fill to the centre of your page keeping the black at the page edge. Duplicate the layer and mirror the new layer. “Merge down” the upper layer. You now have black at each edge and transparency in the middle.

However  many paper rolls you want, divide 12” by that number. Let’s say you want to display four backgrounds. Each roll would need to be 3” wide. Again with the pick tool, drag the gradient across the page until it fills 3”.

Select the blank part of the page (selection tool) and then invert the selection. Edit, copy,  then edit paste “as new selection”. Repeat across the page. Merge layers if you need to, but in PSP using “paste as new selection” you will not need to.

When using this gradient, have it as the top layer, with your backgrounds stacked below. Taking the appropriate selections from the gradient page, select each background layer in turn, deleting the unwanted parts.

You may need to lower the opacity of the gradient and try “overlay” and “hard light” to see which gives the better result.

Green Woodpecker

I get great pleasure from watching birds. Today a green woodpecker came to the garden. From time to time it searches in the same small spot for ants, but this morning he was unlucky! It is a scraplift of work by Sailing Sue, who is a real expert on bird photography and has some amazing LOs. Here is her gallery.

Challenge

Hi Beth- welcome to my blog:)

A new challenge has started at Sunday Scrappers. It is something a bit different as it has an educational purpose and involves scrapping about your local area. Lisa, my co-host at Sunday Scrappers chat, has set this one up. It will be exciting to see contributions from around the world. Read all about it HERE. Oh yes, and there is a pretty, wintery page kit as a posting bonus, kindly donated by Shana.
I'm not sure yet what my contribution will be, but as I live by the "Jurassic Coast, World Heritage Site" I think I shall have to include a dinosaur or two.

Some Scrapping

I actually found time today to do some scrap pages. Here they are, all using products from Club Digital at DSP and photos taken around Somerset.

Hi there!

Hello Pamkez- glad you dropped by and welcome to my blog:)

Freebie

I have been spending odd moments putting something together along the lines of late winter.
The file is 43mb. Is a download of this size large enough to put you off downloading? I'd appreciate comments either way. It would not take too long to redo kits at 200 rather than 300 ppi.

Welcome

A big welcome to you Jackie- thanks for coming to see my blog. I read your post and it would be great if you could join in the Hamper challenge. You can read all about it in the forum at DSP (you would have to become a DSP member, but it is free to join and there is loads going on there). The Hamper will be filled with goodies from participants and the items do not need to be digital. It could be something simple like a typed document of a recipe. The hamper will go to all who take part. Hope to see you playing along.

Freebie

I was looking through some older kits of mine and came across a Christmas one, so thought I would share it.
